A few minor site changes

Posted on January 24th, 2008 as Site News, Sites

I got around to doing some updates to the design of the site last night. I have wanted to change the footer around and update it so there where plug ins that where actually working. I am not a designer or a coder so I struggled for 3 hours and after breaking the footer multiple times I decided I needed some help. After getting the code fixed and cleaned up from my mistakes it looks good. Now in the footer you will see the top posts and top commenter’s and the recent comments box was already there. Also when I was working on the site I opened it in Internet Explorer and saw there was a box in the header for an image but the image was broke. I normally don’t use IE and FireFox doesn’t show this problem. There used to be two headers on this original theme so I imagine that why that was happing but it is fixed now.

So a few minor changes but I like that it some who my top commenter’s on the site. It gives some credit to the people who post on here.

Everything looks good here in FF and Safari.. One thing you might consider is centering the technorati and TLA ads in the sidebar as they tend to look cleaner that way, maybe move them down a break or two..

I like the footer it is looking good. I wish IE and Firefox were not so different Im sick of making sure things are right in both.

@ Matt I will make those changes asap tahnks for the input. I might be re-doing the sidebar cause I serious hate it.

@ Thomas Sinfield Thanks about the footer. It was a mother but I am semi content for now :). Yeah the whole IE & FF makes me mad too. I did not even notice it for a while cause I use FF normally.

the recent comments in the bottom seems to run into the top commenter’s if the text is too long, perhaps a simple overflow : hidden would do the trick? not sure though, I would have to play around with it.

Thanks for the input on the site. I noticed the Top Commenter’s problem too, something else to work on.

Actually, now that I think about it, just changing the width of it should do the trick. You might also have to increase the margin of top commenter’s too though, depends on how things are positioned.

Everything looks good so far on all my browsers, all I could suggest is maybe move one of the feeds on the bottom footer to the left bar so it dosnt look too huge compaired to the top. Popular posts Recent Comments top comments.

maintenance is indeed sometimes a pain, but it is worth if your design is appealing to your visitors. that makes or creates visitors to subscribe too.
