Who Should You Trust?

Posted on March 18th, 2008 as Marketing

I am always on the lookout for new ideas or products such as ebooks, plr packs, or ppc offers items in hope of finding something new and interesting to make money with or blog about (if I am really lucky both). The problem is most of the big offers are mentioned repeatedly across several different blogs writing the same thing. The overall message will be join pepperjam network, rocket profit, and others just like it and you will make money online. These sites might have awesome deals that really help a newcomer make money online but the catch is why should you read the same pitch and idea across 15 sites?

The answer is you shouldn’t. Depending on how trustworthy the sites are to you after the third or fourth blog you will probably eyeball the advertiser’s site to see the details and more than likely purchase the sign-up. If you are still unsure you might go to sites that have more authority in that area or a blog you like and see if they made mention of it. But why would you trust some site that has been around six months to a year that you have never heard of?

The reason why is they were in your shoes very recently or still are. They know how you feel and how to describe how they achieved some success and are still growing or maybe share how they failed. The catch with bigger sites is they made money and succeeded but are they still reproducing these things? If you look at Shoemoney he made his start in ringtones and made a name for himself. Now he lives off name and his previous success not what he is currently doing. Zac Johnson is another good example he made his money from a MySpace add on site and is doing the same thing as Shoemoney; he is making money from his name. Am I saying in these two examples they are morons and know nothing about today’s trends? NO, all I am saying is their claim to fame is from sites or offers that happened 3-4 years ago. They still could be pulling in good amounts from doing different offers but their claims to success have been from past dealings.

Now I have you thrown off on whom to trust the big sites with it 10,000 rss subscribers or the little guy with maybe 150 subscribers. What I am trying to convey is don’t always run to the big boys just because you have heard of their name or think they have all of the answers. Look around and do your research before using a advertiser or buy a ebook. Sadly though sometimes you have to just bite the bullet and try things out for yourself and see what works.

Entrecard Update - Still Not Impressed

Posted on February 22nd, 2008 as Marketing, Social Networking

Entrecard Logo

I wrote about Entrecard a little over 2 weeks ago and said how it was bringing some traffic but it was was not quality traffic. I wanted to give an update on how Entrecard was working for me this week.

So far for the month of February my stats are 74 visits, average time on site: 00:00:07, and a bounce rate of 90.54%. As you can see I am getting some traffic but it is crap.

One thing I did change this month is I advertised and used up some credits. So far I have advertised on Slyvisions, The University Kid, and twice on Erik Karey. The traffic I got with advertising has been a little better but not by much. The stats are 106 visitors, average time on site: 00:00:29, and a bounce rate of 89.62%.

So far I find myself not impressed with Entrecard. The bounce rate is still very high even when paying for ads. I am averaging 90% bounce rate and a low average time on time. I think Entrecard will go the way of the blogrush. It is a great idea but I think so many people are hopping sites and dropping cards just to get more credits.

Learning About Keyword Optimization

Posted on February 20th, 2008 as Marketing, Seo

After my post yesterday on Search Engine Marketing I thought I would discuss Search Engine Optimization (SEO). SEO is the kind of search marketing where you optimize your web site to rank well in search engine results. To rank be successful in SEO you need to both optimize your site content, known as keyword optimization, and generate links to your site, known as link building. This article focuses on keyword optimization and your site content.Even a web site with a million back links will not get a lot of search traffic, if the keywords it ranks well for are not popular. One the other hand, even if you ranked first in Google for a very popular keyword like “cars”, it would do you no good if your site sold fishing rods. Both of these are examples of very poor keyword optimization.

Why Should You Care About Search Engine Marketing?

Posted on February 19th, 2008 as Marketing

Search marketing, also known as search engine marketing (SEM), is the practice of using search engines to market your web site and generate traffic. The reason it is seen as so important is that search engine traffic is so targeted - the visitor will be looking for web sites in precisely the the topic in question.

There are two ways to get search traffic and two kinds of traffic from search engines. These come from the two results search engines display: there are the main results found from relevant sites and the sponsored results that are bought by advertisers.

Marketing in the paid results is knows as PPC marketing, because the ads are paid per click. You have to pay an amount for each visitor who clicks on your ads. The price of one click depends on the popularity on marketing for the keywords the search was for, and is determined by the search engine or by the market. Read the rest of this entry »

Posted on February 14th, 2008 as Marketing

WritingThe use of private label rights articles and products have become a huge part of running just about any type of business on the Internet. The demand for high quality well written private label rights products has seen an enormous increase over the past several months. One of the most appealing benefits about using private label rights products is that you can use them to promote your current business or begin your own business without having to put a whole lot of work into it. Others see creating private label rights articles and other products and reselling them online as the perfect way to make a nice income.

The overall popularity of eBooks has skyrocketed over the past several years. Those that enjoy purchasing ebooks find that they are not only inexpensive but they are convenient enough to either read online or printed off for offline reading. Since the demand for unique and well written eBooks has increased so rapidly over the last several years so has the number of writers looking to make money by creating and selling them. Article Submission Services and how they Work

Posted on February 13th, 2008 as Marketing

Article Submitting

Online entrepreneurs (aka internet entrepreneurs in my book) have quickly learned that building links has dramatically evolved from simple directory submissions. The thing that most all webmasters are seeking today is a compete solution to their link building needs. A smart search engine optimization firm is going to offer article submission services as a part of their link building packages. The whole goal of an article submission service is to not only generate large numbers of incoming links to a website it also needs to generate incoming links that are relevant to the website. Quite unlike web content writing an article submission service is not going to accept an article that has been packed full of keywords. While that type of article most definitely has its place in regards to search engine optimization, article submission sites are looking for quality well written articles to place in their directories. Articles created for SEO purposes only are very likely to be denied by most article directories. Read the rest of this entry »
