Entrecard Update - Still Not Impressed

Entrecard Logo

I wrote about Entrecard a little over 2 weeks ago and said how it was bringing some traffic but it was was not quality traffic. I wanted to give an update on how Entrecard was working for me this week.

So far for the month of February my stats are 74 visits, average time on site: 00:00:07, and a bounce rate of 90.54%. As you can see I am getting some traffic but it is crap.

One thing I did change this month is I advertised and used up some credits. So far I have advertised on Slyvisions, The University Kid, and twice on Erik Karey. The traffic I got with advertising has been a little better but not by much. The stats are 106 visitors, average time on site: 00:00:29, and a bounce rate of 89.62%.

So far I find myself not impressed with Entrecard. The bounce rate is still very high even when paying for ads. I am averaging 90% bounce rate and a low average time on time. I think Entrecard will go the way of the blogrush. It is a great idea but I think so many people are hopping sites and dropping cards just to get more credits.

Streamlining Social Networks One Step at a Time

Posted on February 6th, 2008 as Social Networking, Technology

Social Network Logo’s

With all of the growing Social Networks that are out and the many that keep popping out it seems like in a very short time you end up with multiple accounts in no time. You have the joy of keeping up will all of your friends some of them are on Twitter but not Pownce or vice versa. So you try to send out one update and end up at multiple sites making the same post so all of your friends get it. It is a constant juggle for me to keep up and sometimes I end up focusing on one site then miss out on others because there are so many.

It seems with all of the social networks it takes away from the original concept. It was a simple way to tell your friends something simple. Maybe it was that you liked your red shirt that you where wearing or that there was rain in Virginia while your friend is in New York. We all the routine, you’re out and see a friend and tell them your name on Twitter and that they should follow you. They reply sorry I don’t use twitter I am on Jaiku.

Thankfully Hellotxt is trying to make it easier to use multiple social networks. You go to their site http://www.hellotxt.com and you can post to twitter, jaiku, pownce, plaxco, tumblr, and facebook all at the same time. I just found the site and have been playing around with it some so I will let you know more after using it longer. Also I had to sign up for pownce and jaiku so I could post to them.

It looks very promising as a step towards actually making it easier to use multiple social networks. I think it is like when the entire different instant messengers only did one service. Now you can use a web client to load all of them from one place.

If you sign up for Hellotxt I would like to hear your impressions and if you think this is something we will be seeing more and more.

A Week with Entrecard

Posted on February 5th, 2008 as Site News, Social Networking

A little over a week ago I decided to finally join the Entrecard wave and put a widget on my site. I have been watching my traffic and wanted to share my experiences so far. I added the code to my website the 21st of January. I started with a basic design since I am still working on a logo for my site and have not advertised on any site yet. So far I have had 33 visits that accounts for 2.2% percentage of my traffic. Now here comes the kicker quality of traffic. Right now for traffic my Bounce Rate is 87.88% and the average time on my site is 30 seconds. My first impressions of Entrecard are not too high. I have gotten some traffic but it seems to be low quality. I am going to keep trying it but if the traffic stays like this I might take it off my site. I hope once I start advertising more now that I have built up some credits I will get some better quality traffic.

If you use Entrecard I would like to hear your opinions. Also make sure to check me out at Entrecard and drop your card.

5 Tools To Help Get Your Blog Noticed

Posted on February 1st, 2008 as Sites, Social Networking

With my other post for 5 tips to help you blog I wanted to do a second part for 5 tips to help your blog noticed.1. StumbleUpon - Continuously read blogs and stumble articles that you like. Don’t just randomly pick articles but pick quality articles. Right now StumpleUpon is 31% of my
traffic. That is my number 1 traffic source it an amazing tool.

2. Twitter - How many articles do you have to see to break down and join? At this point just lie and say you joined..just joking. If you are a blogger join now! Add lots of
bloggers that you like and reply to them, most of the
time they will add you. I have not been using it very long but I am getting 2% of my traffic from twitter with only 15 followers.

3. Forums - Join forums where blogging is discussed. You will get more interaction with fellow bloggers and will learn to ways to grow your blog. Digitalpoint is probably my
favorite forum for blogging and website help. They have an awesome feature where it will show your last blog post in your signature on the forum. They are my 4th
biggest traffic source generating 14% of my traffic.

4. Entrecard - Join and put a widget on your site. It is a great way to help other bloggers but you also earn credits and can apply them to get your ad on other blogs. I have
only been using this service for a few days so it’s hard to say how well my traffic is. I will give an update when I have used it a little longer.

5. MyBlogLog - Create an account and setup your profile. A lot of blogs feature a widget on their site saying who their last visitors where if you have an account. It’s a great
way for free promotion. I need to work on my activity with this site I have only gotten a few hits from them but I am not active enough either. I think with some more
work this site could be like StumbleUpon for me.

There you have it my 5 tips and tools to help you blog get noticed so get out there and start using them. Also if you have any suggestions for things I looked feel free to comment.

5 Tips To Help Get Your Blog Noticed

Posted on January 31st, 2008 as Sites, Social Networking

After doing my quick series of links I wanted to give some quick and easy tips to help get your blog noticed. I think these 5 tips will really helped get your blog noticed as they have helped me in the past few weeks to get mine noticed. So without further ado.

1. Comment - Try to comment on 3 new blogs a week but also comment on the blogs that you read daily.

2. RSS Feeds - Subscribe to blogs you like. Let the blogger know you like their blog and you subscribed to their feed. Hopefully they will visit your site and return the favor.

3. Run a contest - If you are trying to get new people to your site they need an incentive to visit. What a better way than free stuff. I grew my rss subscribers from 2 to 23 in
a week and went from 47 comments to 103 in 5 days and my contest is still going.

4. Get a blog review - If you can afford it or can work out a deal get a blog review on a blog bigger than yours. It will draw in new readers and they will trust you more because
you have a referral from a trusted blogger.

5. Run a competition - start a competition with a competing site. It might be for more new subscribers or for more comments but it’s a great tool. Some example are
Shoemoney vs. John Chow or Winnging the Web vs. Tyler Cruz

I know these are some basic tips but they lay the foundation for growing.
