Thanks to everyone who has posted comments. I gave tried to respond to most of them and I appreciate the input. I did get a good amount of response on some design changes for my site and I am working on those changes. As of right now the top posters are:

    don’t worry, it is indeed necessary for your blog to give link love, for it to be recognized. another marketing strategy that helps. and brings free visitors too.
