Entrecard Update - Still Not Impressed

I wrote about Entrecard a little over 2 weeks ago and said how it was bringing some traffic but it was was not quality traffic. I wanted to give an update on how Entrecard was working for me this week.

So far for the month of February my stats are 74 visits, average time on site: 00:00:07, and a bounce rate of 90.54%. As you can see I am getting some traffic but it is crap.

One thing I did change this month is I advertised and used up some credits. So far I have advertised on Slyvisions, The University Kid, and twice on Erik Karey. The traffic I got with advertising has been a little better but not by much. The stats are 106 visitors, average time on site: 00:00:29, and a bounce rate of 89.62%.

So far I find myself not impressed with Entrecard. The bounce rate is still very high even when paying for ads. I am averaging 90% bounce rate and a low average time on time. I think Entrecard will go the way of the blogrush. It is a great idea but I think so many people are hopping sites and dropping cards just to get more credits.

I completely agree with you. I wrote the sam thing on my blog: http://blog.gettingrichthecertainway.net/2008/02/is-entrecard-traffic-real.html
It is a great way to find new blogs though.
Have you ever advertised on a big site (say john chow)? And what kind of traffic did it get you?

well maybe having an article bashing entrecard on your homepage will catch some of those visitors and make them stay a little longer!

Well, you definitely can’t keep everyone’s attention for long. I might recommend if you don’t mind me saying this, try writing longer articles. Let’s face it some Entrecarders aren’t going to read any article, but the ones that do read the articles will up your on site time. :) Just my 2 cents.

My bounce rate on Entrecard isn’t the greatest either, but I think I’ll be keeping it a little longer. While the traffic it drives isn’t of the best quality, the opportunities for exposure within the Entrecard site itself are enormous.

Bounce rate is high but so is value. Where else can you get a 125×125 ad placed on high page rank sites for less than a $1.00 a day?

And I would assume every comment here came from entrecard users - we must have read something… No?

Your Entrecard shows a Drop Rank of “casual and relaxed” and you say you’re not satisfied with it. Of course not — you don’t give, you just take (at least it seems).

    Give and you shall receive.

Also, move the Entrecard widget up above the fold and you’ll receive more visitors. And yes, also high quality visitors. Well, at least I do get them.

By the way, a high bounce rate is normal for a blog because folks scan the home page (especially returning visitors). What is more important is how long they stay on your blog. (1:22 min. on mine; Entrecard visitors that is)

Entrecard works if YOU work it. Don’t expect others do the job for you. And to compare Entrecard with BlogRush is like apples with potatoes.

I have not advertised with a big site yet. I am still having a 125×125 ad designed so I wanted it designed the way I wanted it before buying ad space.

Tay I think I will be trying it for a little longer too. I do agree with the exposure though. I know it has helped me get readers to my blog and help get my name out there more.

If EntreCard is not working out for one, perhaps one are not utilizing it correctly.

EntreCard is only a tool, when used differently by different people, yield different results.

EntreCard’s ability to generate traffic is a fact.

However, it is up to oneself to convert those traffic into visitors, readers.

Besides that, sincerely networking with other fellow like minded EntreCarders is crucial as well.

    Cheers! :D

i recently joined entrecard and my main reason for joining was not for point or adds, but i joined as it had a vast array of blog owners on it and if they were on it, it means they were working on their blogs and most likely to have regular and good content.
My second reason for not being disappointed is the combination of offers in the shop and forums; following a link form there i actually have won 2 /4 competitions i entered as well as getting a lot of help in social bookmarking of my site and ‘link love’ for some of my better articles.

I don’t mind entrecarders power-dropping on me… I do it all the time, and periodically, I’ll a title will catch my eye and I’ll stop and read… and usually post (as in now)… and later, I remember that particular blog and tend to take a few seconds longer to scan for something new to catch my eye. I don’t have time to read everyone’s blogs… but with entrecard, I’ve come across ones I know I want to visit (and drop on) almost daily. I also put a lot in to who and how much I drop as well as as much as I can into (thoughtful) advertising too.

    Good luck..

It seems as though controversial entrecard posts bring lots of valuable comments… Hmmm Wonder if you already knew this secret? I wonder…

I agree I just hope the quality of traffic improves. I do like how I have gained new readers from it though.

I am glad you are having a good experience with Entrecard. I think as the community grows so will how it works. I just hope it has the time to grow into that ideal model.
