How My Goals are Progressing

Planning goals
Today marks the half way point for the month. I wanted to share how I am doing on hitting my goals for this month. You should look at you goals regularly and check how you are doing and what you need to do to hit your goals. I check my traffic and subscribers daily but it is good to create a list and know where I need to focus more. In my previous post I set my goals as:

  • Finish my blog design
  • Get a better logo designed
  • 2500 Visitors
  • Write 15 posts
  • Get 25 subscribers
  • Comment on 3 new blogs a week

My blog design is almost completed and there are only a few minor tweaks left, actually very minor. After all of those headaches I am happy that is nearing completion. I have a logo that has been designed I am waiting for the designer to finish integrating it into the header. He sent me a rough draft but the size needed to be fixed. On the visitors side I am really struggling and I know where I need to focus. So far I have only had 427 visits with 791 page views. One thing I need to account for is when I setup my new theme I did not have Google analytics running for 2 days so I know that hurt me a little. I did have one traffic spike this week where an article got stumbled and grew decent traffic but my average daily visitors it about 20. Last month I had 3 posts that go stumbled and that gave me good traffic. So far I have written 7 good posts and a few more minor ones announcing contests or something smaller; that puts me on track for the month with my posts so I am happy about that. According to feedburner I have 13 subscribers, it has bounced around the last few days with a high of 15 to a low of 9 but I have averaged around 13 so I think that’s a fair estimate. For my goal of commenting I know I have blown that number out of the water. I have really been trying to work on commenting on other blogs and stumble posts.

After looking at my progress I know I really need to focus on getting traffic. Right now I am at a 5th of what I wanted to get for visitors for the month. As long as I follow with what I am doing now it looks like I should be able to attain my goals for the month with only a worry about traffic. Hmm I might have to create some linkbait to get some more traffic to my site.

    looks like you are making a pretty good presence online already!
    And the effort that you put into it now will surly pay off later, just look and ryan over at SEOnoobs.com
    he had 300 subscribers in his first month! And all because he had made so many friends online already.

    Thanks for the positive comments, I am trying to make a dent in the blogger network. Yeah the first months stats for seonoobs.com was crazy I still am trying to grasp his stats.

    Linkbait would be a good idea. Make sure you spend a lot of time thinking it out though, as without planning the fish wont bite.

    I’ve got a recommendation for the blog design. I’d set your link colour to be different than the regular text. This will make them stand out.

    Nice goals system you have going there! I track mine in a notebook, but the same basic concept. It helps a lot to keep on focused.

    I am working on some ideas for linkbait, staale at http://www.vikingblogger.com did a good job with videos from youtube and got good traffic.

    I just noticed the link thing too. In the design it was designed that way but I think the coder missed it. I fix it asap, thanks for pointing it out.
