This is a start of a series I will continually update. It will be about my sites I run and about my headaches and joys of achieving my end goal to become a full time internet entrepreneur.
I have been into computers for the last decade (wow does time fly). In those years I have been building computers, overclocking hardware, run tons of different software, and using the internet. I always find myself drawn to website design and social interactions like instant messaging. I did some basic web design on and off for a few periods of time but never really stuck with it.
I started reading blogs when they started booming and remember reading sites on how to make money through them but never tried. It was something that I always but on the back burner and said I would get back to. I ended up really get sidetracked when I went to a technical school for the networking side (IT Networking and administration if you want to be technical). After a few years of network administration and desktop support I realized I was really missing messing with websites.
I decided to start doing some searching on website design and see if I could do it in my spare time. I ended up stumbling into Problogger by Darren Rose. It was a great site and really started to fuel a fire to start blogging. After reading and dragging my feet for about 6-8 months I decided thats what I wanted to do.
I went out and bought some web space through netfirms. (By the way someone I don’t recommend) and setup a little generic site. I would do okay for about 2-3 weeks then drop it or get bored then take a month off and come back and repeat the cycle. What I realized is I was taking the wrong course of action. I had no goals of a game plan of what I wanted to do or achieve. In November of 2007 I finally got serious. I sat down and created a game plan, I wanted to make money online and see if I could make the switch to a career as an internet entrepreneur and drop my boring day job. Now I am far from achieving this I am just getting started but that’s what this blog is about.
For my first steps I wanted to start a few ebay stores to learn the ropes and see how I did before jumping in full force. I went out and bought a year of webhosting from hostgator who I read great reviews about. In my searches on building a ebay stores I found this software called build a niche store it makes a ebay store that you can customize. It is really geared toward the person with no web design experience so it was great to learn on. The software was $97 but it could be used on unlimited domains so I purchased it and things started to click. I picked up a few domains from godaddy and within two weeks I have 4 ebay stores up and running. That all happened in November of 2007. I started to realize after I started my sites I was in a long road of optimizing my sites and work on generating traffic.
That’s where I am currently at now. I have my ebay stores that are just starting out for the most part. With ebay sales and adsense I have generated an income of about $15. I know it is not much but it’s a start and I know it will grow into more with hard work.
