Streamlining Social Networks One Step at a Time

Social Network Logo’s

With all of the growing Social Networks that are out and the many that keep popping out it seems like in a very short time you end up with multiple accounts in no time. You have the joy of keeping up will all of your friends some of them are on Twitter but not Pownce or vice versa. So you try to send out one update and end up at multiple sites making the same post so all of your friends get it. It is a constant juggle for me to keep up and sometimes I end up focusing on one site then miss out on others because there are so many.

It seems with all of the social networks it takes away from the original concept. It was a simple way to tell your friends something simple. Maybe it was that you liked your red shirt that you where wearing or that there was rain in Virginia while your friend is in New York. We all the routine, you’re out and see a friend and tell them your name on Twitter and that they should follow you. They reply sorry I don’t use twitter I am on Jaiku.

Thankfully Hellotxt is trying to make it easier to use multiple social networks. You go to their site http://www.hellotxt.com and you can post to twitter, jaiku, pownce, plaxco, tumblr, and facebook all at the same time. I just found the site and have been playing around with it some so I will let you know more after using it longer. Also I had to sign up for pownce and jaiku so I could post to them.

It looks very promising as a step towards actually making it easier to use multiple social networks. I think it is like when the entire different instant messengers only did one service. Now you can use a web client to load all of them from one place.

If you sign up for Hellotxt I would like to hear your impressions and if you think this is something we will be seeing more and more.

First of all, I got to say, I like the new theme… :)

and I feel your pain here. I’m a facebook user, and have always been one. I haven’t really ever gotten into myspace, or pownce, or any of those other ones. What sucks is when I am with my buddies and they are talking about that great video that whatshisname posted on myspace. I’m totally left out, all because I don’t have time in the day to check more then one social site.

oh, and btw.. please PLEASE add a like to your homepage, in either the logo, or the navigation menu…

it bugs me having to re-type the URL just to get to the homepage.

Have you tried using the browser Flock, it does the same thing except that all your information is on your computer rather than a server somewhere..

A number of these places are now supporting the OpenID service, so that is also an option as it allows you to load up your OpenID and pretty well walk in anywhere already validated..

And yep, add a link back to your homepage. ;-)
